FLIGHTS TO ALANYA

Everything You Need to Know About Getting Here

Closer Than You Think: Flying to Alanya

One of the most common questions we hear from first-time visitors is: ‘Is Alanya easy to get to?’ The honest answer — and a big part of why this city keeps drawing visitors back year after year — is yes, surprisingly so. Alanya sits at the heart of Turkey’s Mediterranean coast, and thanks to two international airports serving the region, it’s within reach of most European cities in just two to four hours of flying time. No long-haul marathons, no complicated connections. You land, you breathe in warm Mediterranean air, and Alanya is already close.

Both airports offer modern passenger facilities, efficient baggage handling, and good onward connections — so whether you’re arriving for a week’s holiday, a longer stay, or you’re relocating, the journey starts smoothly. And with flights arriving from dozens of European, Scandinavian, and Middle Eastern cities, chances are there’s a direct route from somewhere near you.

✈  Antalya Airport (AYT) —
The Main Gateway

Antalya Airport is one of Europe’s busiest holiday airports, and it’s the primary arrival point for the majority of visitors heading to Alanya. With tens of millions of passengers passing through each year, AYT is a well-oiled machine: two large international terminals, good retail and dining options, efficient passport control, and the kind of infrastructure you’d expect from a top-tier Mediterranean hub. It’s not a stressful airport. It’s a holidaymaker’s airport.

Antalya is located around 125 km west of Alanya — so it’s not directly on your doorstep, but it’s extremely well-connected to the region and served by far more routes than the closer Gazipaşa Airport. If you’re flying from further afield or your preferred airline doesn’t serve Gazipaşa, Antalya is the reliable option.

Which Airlines Fly to Antalya (AYT)?

Antalya is served by over 50 airlines from more than 160 airports worldwide, making it one of the most connected leisure airports in the entire Mediterranean. The biggest operators include SunExpress (the most frequent, flying direct from dozens of European cities), Pegasus Airlines, Corendon Airlines, TUI Fly, Jet2, easyJet, Wizz Air, Norwegian, Finnair, SAS, and Turkish Airlines. Major carriers including British Airways, Lufthansa, SWISS, Air Baltic, and Transavia also operate routes here — including some year-round services. In peak summer season, charter capacity expands significantly with additional operators.

For the most up-to-date list of airlines and routes, check the Antalya Airport official website or use a flight search tool such as Google Flights, Skyscanner, or Kayak — all of which carry comprehensive, real-time schedules for AYT.

✈  Gazipaşa–Alanya Airport (GZP) — Right on Your Doorstep

If Antalya Airport is the big busy hub, Gazipaşa–Alanya Airport is its relaxed, no-fuss little sibling — and for Alanya visitors, it’s the dream option when available. Located just 40–45 km east of Alanya city centre, GZP is practically around the corner. You land, you’re in your hotel within the hour. No two-hour motorway journey, no shuttle stops across half the coast. Just touchdown and go.

The airport is currently undergoing expansion and enhancement works running through October 2026 — a sign of growing demand and investment in the region. Despite this, the airport remains fully operational, and the works are being managed with passenger comfort in mind. The single passenger terminal keeps things simple and stress-free: arrivals and departures are easy to navigate, and the whole experience feels refreshingly human-scale compared to the giant international hubs.

Which Airlines Fly to Gazipaşa–Alanya (GZP)?

GZP is a growing airport with a focused but high-quality route network. Airlines currently operating scheduled and seasonal services include:

SAS (Scandinavian Airlines),  Norwegian, Finnair, Corendon Airlines, Turkish Airlines, Pegasus Airlines,  AJet.

The international route network from GZP has a particularly strong Scandinavian and Northern European focus — making it an excellent direct-flight option for visitors from Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Denmark. Routes are expanding, so it’s always worth checking the latest schedules, especially for summer 2026.

Last Leg of Your Journey What would you need to get from the airport to Alanya

FAQ or YAWA - You Askwed, We Answered (You Are Welcome)

Gazipaşa–Alanya Airport (GZP) is by far the closer option, sitting just 40 km east of Alanya — roughly a 40–50 minute drive. Antalya Airport (AYT) is around 125 km away, which means a journey of 1 hour 45 minutes to 2.5 hours depending on traffic. If you can get a direct flight into Gazipaşa, it’s the clear winner for convenience.

You can find taxis at both airports on arrival, but we’d strongly recommend pre-booking — especially in peak season (June to September). Availability at the airport can be limited during busy flight slots, on-the-spot prices are often higher, and most local drivers don’t speak much English. A pre-booked private transfer gives you a fixed price, a driver waiting with your name at arrivals, and door-to-door service straight to your hotel. Much less stress after a flight.

Yes, though it takes patience. The most budget-friendly route involves taking the Havas airport bus or a tram into Antalya city centre, then catching an intercity bus (OBD or Kamil Koç) east towards Alanya. The total journey can take over 3 hours and involves at least one change, but the cost is just a few euros per person. It’s a perfectly fine option if you’re travelling light and solo — less ideal with heavy luggage or young children.

Gazipaşa currently has a stronger Scandinavian and Northern European connection than a UK one — with year-round direct flights from Oslo (Norwegian & SAS), Helsinki (Finnair), and Copenhagen (SAS & Corendon), plus seasonal routes from Stockholm, Düsseldorf, Billund, Aalborg, and Stuttgart. Direct flights from the UK to GZP are limited at the moment, meaning most UK visitors fly into Antalya instead. That said, routes are expanding — it’s always worth checking the latest schedules on gzpairport.com or a flight search tool before assuming you have to go via Antalya.
